WHO FRACTURE RISK ASSESSMENT TOOL

The World Health Organization has developed a tool to predict a person’s 10 year risk of fracture. This prediction model can be used with or without bone density data and gives a much better picture of fracture risk than bone density alone.

It is worth noting that the FRAX tool is intended to assist in indentifying and treating patients at risk in a general population. For instance persons with multiple fractures or who have received larger doses of corticosteroids are at greater risk than all persons that would answer yes to these questions.
